Dane Miller
Owner & Head Coach
Coach Dane is the owner of Garage Strength Sports Performance. He has produced over 60 All-Americans and more than 36 national champions. Coach Dane’s greatest achievement in life is the goal he never realized he set: raising a family with his wife and Garage Strength co-owner, Caitlin Browne.
Coach Dane threw for Penn State University where he was a five-time Big 10 place winner, track and field team captain, and four-time Academic All-Big 10 scholar athlete. He was also an NCAA championship qualifier, four-time regional qualifier, and a two-time USA Indoor Track and Field national qualifier.
DJ Shuttleworth
Coach DJ is the On-Site Manager at Garage Strength and oversees all business aspects of the on-site gym. Coach DJ graduated from Wilkes University with an Accounting degree and played football all 4 years. He is a USAW Level 1 coach who has coached numerous Olympic Weightlifting athletes at National and International events. A philosophy shared by Garage Strength and Coach DJ has always been ‘Lengthening is Strengthening’.
T'Mond Johnson
Coach T’Mond is the Head Sports Performance Coach at Garage Strength and oversees the overall training of all athletes and clients. Coach T’Mond graduated from Texas State University with a Health and Fitness Management degree while also being a 2x D1 All-American in Track and Field. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and his main goal is to be there every step of the way to assist in pushing the physical and mental limits of the body to ultimately become the best version of yourself!
Legend Hayes
Coach Legend is the Head of Speed and Agility at Garage Strength and oversees all speed and agility training and development. Coach Legend graduated Christopher Newport University with a degree in Communications while being a two-sport athlete playing football and a national runner-up in the discus on the track and field team. Post-collegiately he is a 2x National Qualifier for Men’s Discus finishing 5th and 6th from 2021 to 2022. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) dedicated to developing the next generation of athletes and helping them discover their true potential.
Izzy O'Connell
Izzy O’Connell is a trainer at Garage Strength, training various athletes. Coach Izzy graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s degree in education, majoring in Health and Physical Education and minoring in Exercise Science. While at Old Dominion, Izzy competed on the field, playing for the ODU Women’s Lacrosse team. After graduation, Coach Izzy worked as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Ursinus College. You will see Izzy working in the Sports Performance side of GS, coaching athletes and clients of all ages to help them achieve things they never thought possible.
Sam Weeks
Coach Sam is the Head of Throws training at Garage Strength and oversees the strength and technical development of athletes competing in the shot put and discus. He holds two degrees, a BS in Health Education with a Sports Coaching Concentrate and an MS in Exercise and Sports Science with a Strength and Conditioning Concentrate from Worcester State University and Merrimack College. He has a Throws Specialist certification through the USTFCCCA. His vision is to provide guidance through sports and strength coaching, furthering the development of the next generation of athletes. Ivan Escott
Coach Ivan is an assistant Olympic weightlifting coach at Garage Strength. He is certified with an USAW L1 and has coached athletes at the national level. Ivan formerly competed as a D1 swimmer at Eastern Illinois University and coached for the BYNS swim club for 5 years. Along with coaching, he also trains and competes with the rest of the weightlifting team. He enjoys being loud, energetic, and you will most likely hear him screaming his head off for members going for big lifts every day of the week.
